The Authors

Sandra Newman is the author of three novels and a memoir. Her first novel, The Only Good Thing Anyone Has Ever Done was a finalist for the Guardian First Book Award. Her third novel, The Country of Ice Cream Star, will be published in 2014 by Chatto and Windus in the UK, Knopf in Canada, and Ecco in the US. (Reviews of her books can be found here.) Her short fiction and non-fiction has appeared in such publications as Harper’s, Conjunctions, London’s Observer and Sunday Express newspapers, and in Granta’s Family Wanted anthology. She has taught writing at the University of Colorado, Chapman University, Temple University, The New School, the 92nd Street Y, and the Unterberg Poetry Center. She lives in New York City.

Howard Mittelmark is the author of the novel Written Out. As a ghostwriter/collaborator/editor, he has had a hand in dozens of novels and memoirs, including two New York Times bestsellers. He has worked for literary agencies and publishers of both books and magazines in various editorial capacities. His book reviews and essays have appeared in The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Philadelphia Inquirer, The International Herald-Tribune, Kirkus Reviews, Writer’s Digest, Hollywood Reporter, and other publications. He is of no fixed address.
